SPORT/LEISURE INTERESTS :

The local abounds in wildlife of the feathered and furred variety and there are many walks for nature lovers and ramblers.

There is a swimming pool in Gorron and the Aquabulle water park at Laval is a big attraction for youngsters. There is also a man-made lake and beach at Silly le Plage.

You can play pitch and putt in Gorron or golf on a 27 hole course in Laval . Theres tennis at the local courts and also at Laval is squash, badminton, etc. you can hire cycles locally. Horse riding lessons are available nearby. Fishing is a favourite local pastime (mostly trout and carp) and licences are available from the local bar during the season (from the 1 st June).

	Near our local village, Colombiers du Plessis, you will find Les Jardins des Renaudies, a floral park with beautiful landscaped gardens plus a couple of small museums, which will appeal to any garden lover. Mayenne and Laval both have chateaux, museums and churches and lovely riverside views, with boat trips in the summer. Lassay les Chateaux, Vitre and Fougeres all have wonderfully preserved chateaux which are well worth a visit and you can have guided tours, in English!! In the summer special cultural events are often advertised, e.g. festivals, son et lumiere, theatrical performances, music recitals and open-air music festivals. If you want to venture further a field then Le Mans, Mont St Michel, St Malo, Bayeaux, the Normandy and Brittany beaches are not to be missed, nor are the Loire and Saumur Valleys.
	RESTAURANTS : There are some excellent local restaurants which range from good home cooking to nouvelle cuisine with a price range to suit every pocket and always service with a smile. Just ask your hosts for their personal recommendations.

As well as small specialist shops Gorron has a supermarket and a weekly Wednesday market. For serious shoppers the larger towns of Ernee, Mayenne, Laval and Fougeres are 30-45 minutes drive away and you can get to the city of Rennes in 90 minutes.
